Video of Jack Nicholson Painting - 11/15/21

I just finished this short 40 sec video of my painting of Jack Nicholson.

Jack Nicholson's face seems to always bring a smile to mine. He has played some very very interesting characters in the movies. The background dialogue is from "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest". The image is from the movie "About Schmidt".

The painting is currently hanging in the Park Avenue Contemporary gallery in Winter Park FL. This Neo-Pointillist painting is on 3 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 2 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass. If you find yourself in Winter Park FL, stop in and say hi to Jack!

Jack Nicholson - 08/14/21

Jack Nicholson's face seems to always bring a smile to mine. He has played some very very interesting characters in movies like Batman, The Shining, and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

This painting is done with acrylic paint on 3 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 2 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass.

The Pointillist painters of the 1880's were interested in using dots to visually mix colors. This Neo-Pointillist painting of 'Jack Nicholson' is my latest example of that Pointillist technique of mixing colors. This painting has around 24,000 dots!

You can currently see this painting at the Park Avenue Contemporary gallery in Winter Park, Florida. If you are in or around Winter Park sure to stop in and say hi to Jack! 348 Park Avenue South Winter Park, FL. The gallery's hours are: Tues - Fri: 11am–7pm, Sat: 10am–8pm, Sun: 11am–6pm, Mon: Closed.

Park Avenue Contemporary Gallery - 08/07/21

I'm very excited and honored to have Denise Autorino and the Park Avenue Contemporary Art Gallery represent me in Winter Park, FL. My paintings look great in this contemporary setting.

The gallery owner Denise Autorino has a long successful history promoting local and nationally recognized artists in central Florida. And I'm in great company, because the gallery also represents some other artists that I am honored to call my friends. Beau Wild, Doug Powell, Todd K. Fox, and Victor Bokas.

If you are in or around Winter Park, FL make sure to stop in and say hi to Denise Autorino and my paintings. 348 Park Avenue South Winter Park, FL. The gallery's hours are: Tues - Fri: 11am–7pm, Sat: 10am–8pm, Sun: 11am–6pm, Mon: Closed.

"Raina In Red" - 07/24/21.

And the 2ed Place Award goes to "Raina In Red".

What a nice surprise. I went to pick up my painting "Raina In Red" at Arts On Granada and saw a beautiful red ribbon hanging on her.

My painting "Raina In Red" was part of the juried exhibition "Figuratively Speaking" at Arts On Granada that just ended on July 24th. Congratulations to Andrina Carey for Best In Show, Dick Truxaw for 1st place, and Beth Carroll for 3rd place.

Big and exciting things are happening for Arts on Granada. The gallery is changing it's name to Galerie Elan, and moving to Daytona Beach @ 230 S. Beach St. The new gallery will have three times the space as the existing gallery in Ormond Beach. Gallery owner Gregory Graham Grant says that Galerie Elan will have a retro French theme and house a cafe within the gallery that will offer coffee, wine and pastries. The grand opening of Galerie Elan is scheduled for this fall. You can read more about the move here.

"The Lovely Loleita" - 07/23/21.

Acrylic paint on 2 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 3 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass.

The woman I fell in love with. The Lovely Loleita.

One of the reasons that I have painted mostly women since coming back to painting a few years ago, is because some of the most meaningful influencers in my life have been women. From my Grandmother instilling in me the belief that I can do anything. To the unconditional love of my Mother. To the many female mentors I have had influencing all aspects of my life. But there has been no greater influence on me than The Lovely Loleita.

"Mina" - 04/29/21.

Acrylic paint on 2 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 3 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass.

I just finished this short 44 second video showing my new painting 'Mina'. It's done with acrylic paint on 2 sheets of 24"x36" plexiglass on top of 3 sheets of 36"x48" plexiglass.

The Pointillist painters of the late 1800's were interested in using dots to visually mix colors. They used dots of different colors to simulate blended colors. For example, if dots of two colors are placed next to each other, from a distance they look like a third distinctive color. This Neo-Pointillist painting 'Mina' is my latest example of that Pointillist technique of mixing colors.

I just finished this painting of Marina Lane (Mina).

This painting is done with acrylic paint on 2 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 3 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass. I am very excited to incorporate silkscreen stencils to make the halftone pattern on this painting.

"COVID-19 and the Weeping Angel of Grief" - 02/05/21.

Acrylic paint on 2 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 3 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass.

I just finished this short 53 sec video of my painting of Weeping Angel Of Grief. I was inspired to create this painting from a very famous 1894 sculpture by William Wetmore Story for the grave of his wife at the Protestant Cemetery in Rome. In my version, instead of the Angel weeping and draped over a tomb, she is draped over and enveloped by the COVID-19 virus. A Guardian Angel striving to protect humanity form the COVID-19 virus.

"Raina In Red." - 01/28/21.

Acrylic paint on 2 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 3 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass.

I just finished this painting called "Raina In Red".

When I first saw Raina's style and beautiful mysterious face, she immediately brought to mind the old film stars from the 30's and 40's. Rita Hayworth, Veronica Lake, and Lauren Bacall. All classic film stars from that era.

With this painting I have added crosshatching and graphic elements to compliment and contrast the thousands of dots making up the details in this painting.
